Meet the Physicians at NWBOA!
Dr. Bruce Fletcher and Dr. Elliott Hinkes opened NWBOA over 20 years ago. Through the years they’ve worked with an amazing team. They welcomed Dr. Bronson Bartolone to the team last year. Dr. Bartolone is the Director of Physical Therapy in the Physical Therapy department.
Keep reading to learn a little bit about each of our physicians:
Dr. Bartolone studied Biology and Chemistry at Youngstown State University (Ohio) and later earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
He has extensive experience with evaluating and treating musculoskeletal, neurological, vestibular impairments, sports injuries and falls prevention.
“My favorite part of my job is meeting new people and seeing them get better each day. We spend so much time with our patients that they become family when they leave. The hardest part of my job is knowing that I can’t fix everyone, no matter the intervention (shot, pill, exercise), there are people who don’t get better. However, they are the reason I strive to better myself as a clinician and stay updated through evidence based practice and continuing education.”
Dr. Bruce Fletcher studied with Dr. Elliot Hinkes at the University of Miami School of Medicine. They completed their internship in General Surgery and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. Dr. Fletcher completed his fellowship in Arthroscopic Surgery at Washington Adventist Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. He has since practiced general orthopaedic surgery/orthopaedic sports medicine for over 20 years treating adults, adolescents, and children.
One apparent and valued quality of Dr. Fletcher is his ability to make his patients feel at ease. He strives to treat his patients as family members, which is evident in the fact that a large majority of his patients have been seeing him throughout the years as various orthopedic problems arise. Many of his patients were young when he first took care of them and now he has the pleasure of treating their children. He tries to make his patients feel comfortable and is well aware that they make an appointment to see him because they are in pain or have an ailment. He is cognizant of the fact that the last thing they want to have is someone who does not communicate or is not interested in their concerns. He takes pride in the warm and welcoming environment maintained in the practice and hopes to continue to contribute to his patients’ well-being for many years to come.
After studying at UM, Dr. Hinkes completed his fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine/Arthroscopic Surgery at the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia.
He opened NWBOA with Dr. Fletcher over 20 years ago.
Ultimately, Dr. Elliott Hinkes’ life experiences and interactions have developed him into the respected orthopedic surgeon he is today, instilling in him not only a love for medicine but also for teaching. From his early introduction into the medical field, Dr. Hinkes’ enthusiasm for guiding his staff, discussing diagnosis with patients, and teaching his shadowing students is apparent.
